The social networking platform X paid the fines imposed by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and again asked for permission to resume operations in Brazil, according to a document seen by Reuters.

In the petition, the company Elon Musk informs that it has made full payment of the three fines imposed by the STF, in the amount of R$28.6 million, and requires the immediate unblocking of the platform “for free access by its users throughout the national territory.”

In an order also made this Friday, the minister Alexandre de Moraeswhich reports the case in the Supreme Court, confirmed the platform's request and determined that the Judiciary Secretariat “certify full compliance with the payment of fines and the effective deposit in the account linked to these records”.

Although he made full payment of the funds, X's lawyers question part of the charges.

According to them, a fine of R$10 million imposed on the platform due to the temporary unblocking of access to X in Brazil in September is undue.

Lawyers André Zonaro Giacchetta, Caetano Berenguer, Fabiano Robalinho Cavalcanti and Sérgio Rosenthal, from the offices of Bermudes Advogados, Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Rosenthal Advogados Associados, claim that the resumption of access was involuntary and resulting from a necessary change in the network infrastructure in South America .

The social media platform has been blocked from access in Brazil since the end of August, as determined by Moraes, in a decision later confirmed unanimously by the First Panel of the Supreme Court.

The sanction in the country, one of the most important for the platform in the world, follows a long and public clash between Moraes and Musk, who repeatedly refused to comply with court orders in Brazil.
