According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE)voting is mandatory for every literate Brazilian citizen, over 18 and under 70 years of age. Voting is optional for young people between the ages of 16 and 18, those over 70 and the illiterate.
Despite this, it is worth remembering that in municipal elections there is no vote by transit. In other words, if the voter is traveling or living abroad, the absence from voting must be justified.
It is worth remembering that the deadline stipulated by the TSE for justification is December 5th for the first round and January 7th for the second. Otherwise, you will have to pay a fine.
