There are just a few days left until the arrival of municipal elections 2024. The first and second rounds will take place on October 6th and 27th, respectively. If the voter does not vote and does not provide justification for his absence to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), You will be required to pay a fine for non-attendance.
The fine is R$3.51 per claim. However, it is worth mentioning that if the voter does not present a justification or pay the fine, there are some consequences that will be a “thorn in the side” for the citizen.

According to the TSE, the deadline for justification is December 5th for the first round and January 7th for the second.
To consult debts with the Electoral Court and pay off debts, citizens must access the siteenter your personal information and select “Issue GRU” to pay the debt with a bank slip or “Pay” to pay off by making a transfer via Pix or credit card.
The consequences for voters who did not pay a fine
Not voting, not justifying or paying the fine can become a big problem in the voter's life. Anyone who finds themselves in this situation will be prevented from obtaining a passport and identity card.
Not only that, but the voter will not be able to register for a contest or test to hold a public office or function, nor be sworn in.
According to the Electoral Code (Lei nº 4,737/1965), when failing to vote and not presenting a justification to the electoral judge, the person incurs a fine of 3 to 10% of the region's minimum wage, imposed by the competent court.
Furthermore, by failing to vote, justify and pay the fines due, the voter is also prevented from:
- Receiving remuneration in public jobs;
- Obtaining loans from credit institutions maintained by the government;
- Renewal of enrollment in official educational establishments;
- Obtain a certificate of electoral discharge for candidacy registration purposes;
- Obtain any document from diplomatic offices to which the person is subordinate;
- Practice of any act for which electoral discharge is required.
