As municipal elections 2024 is approaching and more than 155 million Brazilians will be able to go to the polls to choose their candidates. The first and second rounds take place on October 6th and 27th, respectively.
Voting begins at 8 am, Brasília time. However, it is worth paying attention to the time zone of your state and municipality.
In Acre and 11 municipalities in Amazonas (Amaturá, Atalaia do Norte, Benjamin Constant, Eirunepé, Envira, Guajará, Ipixuna, Itamarati, Tabatinga, São Paulo de Olivença and Jutaí), for example, voting starts at 6 am, local time .
In the rest of Amazonas, in Roraima, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, voting begins at 7 am (local time). In Fernando de Noronha, voting starts an hour later, at 9am.
As for the closing of votes, in all states under Brasília standard time, voting ends at 5pm. In Acre and the 11 municipalities in Amazonas, voting ends at 3 pm (local time).
In the rest of Amazonas, in Roraima, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, voting ends at 4 pm local time. And finally, in Fernando de Noronha, the closing time will be at 6pm.
After the polling stations close, vote counting begins when the ballot boxes arrive at the Electoral Court. The publication of the first numbers begins as soon as the first votes are counted.
