A ROAD (WEGE3) will invest approximately R$543 million to increase transformer production capacity in Brazil. According to the statement sent to the market this Wednesday (25), the investments will occur over the next two years, in manufacturing units in the states of Minas Gerais e Rio Grande do Sul.
In the state of Minas Gerais, the company reports that it will invest R$370 million, expanding its transformer factory by almost 24 thousand m². The investment is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026.
For the state of Rio Grande do Sul, investments will be directed to the factory located in Gravataí, which will receive R$128 million. WEG expects to increase the production capacity of power transformers for voltage classes up to 230 kV.
With completion scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, the company highlights that there will be an increase of 7,300 m² in the factory area. “This expansion aims to meet the demand of electricity concessionaires in Brazil and neighboring countries,” it explains.
In December 2023, WEG announced investments of R$1.2 billion to expand transformer production capacity in Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. The investments are currently underway and will be added to the new contributions.
