O Superior Electoral Court (TSE) recently updated the number of incidents recorded during voting across the country.
The Pardal app, an official TSE tool, received 5,795 complaints this Sunday (6), the first round of the municipal elections.
The main irregularities were exit polls (3,401), hanging banners and posters (230) and distribution of leaflets (207).
Municipal Elections 2024: Broken ballot boxes
By 3:30 pm, 2,651 electronic voting machines had been replaced, a number equivalent to 0.5% of the total equipment.
The TSE also reported that a polling station recorded manual voting.
The replacement of defective electronic voting machines is expected by the Electoral Court, which is already preparing reserve equipment to be put into operation immediately.
Municipal Elections 2024: Justifications
According to the TSE, 2.4 million justifications for absence from voting were sent to the Electoral Court system through the e-Título application. The platform also received 10.4 million polling location queries.
Municipal Elections 2024: First Round
More than 155 million voters are eligible to vote in 5,569 municipalities. Voting hours are from 8am to 5pm across the country.
Voters will vote for councilor and mayor. In five municipalities in the country, the electorate must still participate in popular consultations.
The second round of the dispute could be held on October 27th in 103 municipalities with more than 200 thousand voters, in which none of the candidates for mayor reaches more than half of the valid votes, excluding blank and null votes, in the first round.
