As 2024 municipal elections are approaching, with the first round on October 6th and the second, in cities where necessary, on October 27th. To vote, voters must be in good standing with their Electoral Justice.

This year, municipal elections will be held in 5,569 cities in Brazil, and more than 156 million voters will go to the polls. Voting will take place from 8 am to 5 pm (Brasília time).

To check your electoral status, you must access the Superior Electoral Court website (TSE) and select “Electoral Self-Service”, then choose “Electoral Registration Card” and, finally, “Check Electoral Status”, entering your registration number, CPF or full name. The system will then inform you of your status.

If everything is in order, the situation will appear as “Regular” and, in this case, the voter simply needs to go to the polls on election day and vote. However, it is important to be careful, as this does not mean that there are any outstanding debts, so also check the “electoral debts”.

In the “Cancelled” condition, the title becomes unavailable for voting and is only enabled for transfer or review. In the case of “Suspended”, it also prevents the voter from voting.

If the voter is in a situation where they need to regularize their voter registration, this can also be done through the Electoral Self-Service page, simply by clicking on “Regularize your canceled voter registration” and providing the requested documents.

However, please note that the deadline for regularization for the 2024 municipal elections ended on May 8th.

2024 municipal elections: I lost my voter registration card, can I still vote?

The status of the voter's voter registration card affects the voter's ability to go to the polls. However, on election day, the voter does not have to present their voter registration card in order to vote. Therefore, to vote, all that is required is an official photo ID.

Accepted documents include identity card, driver's license (with photo), reservist certificate, work card, passport and functional identity card issued by a professional body.

It is worth noting that documents can be used even if the validity date has expired.

In addition to these options, it is also possible to vote by presenting the e-Título, an application that works as a digital version of the voter registration card. It allows the person to view the voting document number, justify the vote and consult the information registered with the Electoral Court, among other options.

Birth or marriage certificates are not eligible as proof of identity, so if presented, they will not be accepted and the citizen must present one of the documents listed above.
