Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from Federal Supreme Courtdecided this Friday that the rede social X can resume operating in Brazil if it pays at least three fines that total 28.6 million reais.

The decision states that Elon Musk's social network complied with previous orders to remove content and appoint a legal representative in Brazil, two of the main reasons that had led to the service being suspended by Moraes in Brazil at the end of August.

However, the STF minister ordered X to honor three financial commitments before authorizing the return of the platform in the country.

The first is that the company has to say whether the 18.3 million reais already blocked from the accounts of X and Starlink, another Musk company, will be used to pay previous fines for non-compliance with court orders.

The minister also asked the company to pay another 10 million reais in fines, an amount related to the fact that the platform, according to him, improperly returned to the air last week. Moraes considered the temporary return of the social network a “scam”.

Moraes also decided to impose a fine of 300 thousand reais on the company's new legal representative in the country, lawyer Rachel Villa Nova Conceição, which needs to be paid before the return of the social network.
