The Secretary of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Map), Luis Ruawas appointed this Friday (4). Rua takes over from Roberto Perosa, who had his departure from Mapa confirmed after 21 months at the head of the secretariat. The appointment was formalized through Ordinance No. 1,100, published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU)
Born in Mogi Guaçu (SP), Rua has an academic background with a bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations from Faculdade de Campinas (FACAMP).
He also has a master's degree in International Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (FEP/UP) and a postgraduate degree in Agribusiness from the Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz (ESALQ/USP).
Since 2020, Luis Rua has served as markets director at the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), an organization that represents the poultry and swine sectors.
At ABPA, he worked to promote new opportunities for the productive sector, through international negotiations and institutional relationships with stakeholders both in Brazil and abroad.
Perosa praises work at the Ministry of Agriculture

On Wednesday (2), the dismissal of Jonatas Pulquério from the position of Director of the Risk Management Department of the Mapa Agricultural Policy Secretariat was also confirmed. Pulquério spent 18 months in the department and must return to Mato Grosso, where he is a career civil servant. Speaking to Money Times, he said that the sector is experiencing a crisis.
