As municipal elections 2024 is approaching and more than 155 million Brazilians will be able to go to the polls to choose their candidates. The first and second rounds will take place on October 6th and 27th, respectively.

O Superior Court of Justice (TSE) informs that the receipt is just the electronic ballot box software that guarantees the voters' vote. Despite this, the Electoral Discharge Certificate can replace the receipt.
What is the Electoral Discharge Certificate?
The Electoral Discharge Certificate is nothing more than a document that proves whether the voter is up to date with the Electoral Court or not. In other words, it is proof that the voter has or does not have full political rights.
To issue it, the voter must be up to date with their vote or have justified their absence, have paid fines for non-attendance and have responded to the call to work on the election.
This certificate is necessary for several sectors of citizens' lives:
- Registration in public competitions;
- Receiving remuneration in public jobs;
- Obtaining loans from credit institutions maintained by the government;
- Obtain a passport or CPF;
- Renewal of enrollment in official educational establishments;
- Practice of any act for which electoral discharge is required.
The issuance of the document can be done without leaving home, through portal do TSE in the “Electoral Services” tab. Just click on “Certificates”, “Electoral Self-Service” and “Certificates” again.
