The former president Jair Bolsonaro already attended his polling place this Sunday (6), in Rio de Janeiro, and told the newspaper O Globo that he would support “anyone” in the second round he faced Guilherme Boulos (PSOL), including Pablo Marçal (PRTB).
During the electoral campaign, Bolsonaro declared support for the current mayor of the city of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB). It is worth remembering that Nunes' vice-president is Ricardo Mello Araújo (PL), appointed by the former president.
In recently released polls, it is not yet known which names could go to the second round in the capital, but Bolsonaro confirmed to the newspaper that, in a hypothetical scenario without Nunes, he would support Marçal.
“In São Paulo, there is a new situation: a new boy from the PRTB who is a bit controversial. Let’s see how the people decide (…) Anyone against Boulos”, he said.
However, the former president reported an episode that happened two months ago in which, after a meeting with Marçal, the candidate said that Bolsonaro would support him, which caused discomfort. “I didn’t say that. Nunes’s vice is mine”, he recalled.
“He (Marçal) is extremely intelligent, but I said he has to hold back a little. It needs moderation. He likes controversy, making videos for the court,” said Bolsonaro.
